Meet the Mermaids: Jillian
Summertime is here and Gemini season is upon us! The temperatures are increasing and we are eagerly preparing for more leisurely experiences on the seaside. Having recently celebrated World Ocean Day, it is perfect timing for us to get to know a mermaid that has a passion for coastal living. Embracing the changes that come with this new season, we are thrilled to celebrate Jillian, on her 30th birthday! Jillian’s free-spirited energy, background in graphic design, and passion for coastal branding makes her the perfect fit for our marketing team!
Where are you from?
I grew up in Minnesota and lived in D.C. for six years. I decided to move to Charleston about two years ago because I always dreamed of living on the beach!
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about design and really believe that intentional design can elevate a business. Authentic branding and marketing have immense power. Working with G&G is exciting for me because they have a really strong commitment to sustainability that is in alignment with my beliefs and passion for nature!
How has the ocean impacted you?
The ocean saved my life. When I got let go from my job, the beach was my safe space. I went there everyday with my dog and we just walked for miles. I needed to give myself time to reset and slow down.
How did you find your way into the G&G family?
I recently started my own business offering design work & branding services with local businesses. I was looking to work part-time while starting off so I applied for the production artist position at Grit & Grace. After observing my experience in graphic design, Rachel had a few projects in mind. This lead me into joining the marketing team!
What is your astrology sign? Which characteristic of your astrology sign best embodies you?
I am a Gemini- but don’t be scared. Geminis get a bad reputation as they are often depicted as ‘two-faced.’ However, my friends describe me as a chameleon. I can wear different hats, be adaptable, and be socially flexible.
It’s your 30th birthday! How is this new season of life here to serve you?
I’m so excited about turning 30! This transitional period is for me to make big career changes and chase after my dreams. It’s scary because I’m starting from scratch but I’m glad to finally be doing it. I’ve had to be brave, learn a lot, and push myself and I am so excited to see my work come to fruition.
