Meet the Mermaids: Emily
Emily, one of our talented production artists, has a passion for the art of painting and the process of crafting our beautiful products. She loves and appreciates each shell for its unique characteristics. Outside of the art studio, Emily enjoys exploring the oak filled woods of Charleston on horseback with her beloved horse, Harley.
Where are you from?
Anderson, SC but I live in Charleston, SC now and spend a lot of my time on Johns Island and Edisto beach.
What are you passionate about?
I strive to bring little moments to life through art making; whether it be animals in nature or a glimmer of light seeping through my bedroom window projecting an interesting pattern on the wall. You never know what might inspire a living painting!
How do you practice sustainability in your personal life?
I try to practice minimalism in my everyday life; before a purchase I ask myself if that item is a want or a need. This has helped me prioritize and keep waste at a minimum.
What do you do in your free time?
You can almost always find me outside whether it be the beach, a bike ride, or the horse farm!
What are you most proud of recently?
I am honored to have the opportunity to exhibit my own artwork at Grit & Grace through a solo art show! Save the Date: Friday December 1st at 125 King Street!
What roles have you done at G&G and how has that evolved over time?
I found myself in a career shift, seeking a role that took me closer to my creative roots, and discovered a job listing for a production artist at G&G. Since than my role as a production artist has taught me new art practices and fine tuning my craft, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with fellow artists for new product designs.
